New SUPERFANS Podcast Goes Inside the Lives of Artists’ Biggest Fans

You can know every word to the same song as someone else and have a completely different reason for loving it. Maybe it helped you through a difficult year. Maybe it reminds you of home. Maybe it changed what you wanted to do with your life.
Put those two people together, and there’s plenty to talk about before the show even starts.
SUPERFANS, a new video podcast hosted by Billboard Executive Editor Lyndsey Havens, follows two strangers who share a favorite artist as they meet for the first time and head to a concert together. They trade favorite songs, share what the music has meant to them and discover unexpected common ground. Along the way, surprise artist encounters make the experience even more memorable.
Co-produced by Magnet Originals and Live Nation, the series premieres October 27 across YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts with an episode featuring Kid Cudi fans, followed by episodes featuring fans of Peso Pluma, Stray Kids, Big Boi, KATSEYE and A$AP Rocky.
Behind Every Favorite Artist Is a Personal Story
Ask someone about their favorite artist, and the conversation can get personal quickly.
Across the season, fans share the pride Peso Pluma inspires, the infectious energy of Stray Kids’ STAYs and how Kid Cudi’s openness about mental health helped some listeners find their career paths. Each fandom has its own personality. Within it are people whose lives have been shaped by the music in very different ways.
Havens has spent her career reporting on artists and championing their work. Here, she gets to follow that work into the lives of the people listening.
“Each episode takes us inside a different fandom to meet the people whose lives have been shaped by the music and artists they love,” she says. “From the pride Peso Pluma inspires in his fans to the infectious energy of Stray Kids’ STAYs and the people who found their career paths through Kid Cudi’s openness about mental health, it’s been so special to see how deeply music can impact our lives.”
A favorite song becomes a way into someone’s life, opening up conversations about identity, belonging and the experiences that stay with us.
