This summer, Airbnb and Lollapalooza are teaming up to launch a first-of-its-kind global partnership, creating exclusive fan experiences across five festivals: Berlin, Chicago, Brazil, India, and The Town in São Paulo.

Whether it’s a secret artist set, a behind-the-scenes tour with festival producers, or a hands-on workshop with a pro photographer, these Airbnb Experiences offer fans new ways to engage with the live music moments they’re already traveling for.

The partnership kicked off on May 26 at Berlin’s Kindl Centre for Contemporary Arts, where Airbnb’s CEO Brian Chesky was joined by Live Nation’s Therese Liljedahl, SVP of International Partnerships, and Andre Lieberberg, President of GSA Concerts, for an intimate fireside chat. Together, they explored the power of local culture, the global pull of live music, and why fans today are packing their bags not just to travel, but to feel something real: live music. In a world that’s increasingly digital, they unpacked how real-world experiences are what people are chasing most. Here we unpack the 5 biggest takeaways from their conversation.

“This is the beginning of a very special partnership. If you’re going to spend your time traveling to see live music, we want to help make that experience unforgettable.”
Brian Chesky, CEO and co-founder of Airbnb

Time Over Things

Airbnb isn’t just offering fans a home base during their next live music adventure —it’s offering an exclusive experience. People are increasingly prioritizing experiences above all else, and live music rises to the top. As fans continue to cross borders for festivals and concerts, this partnership lets them access the kind of local cultural and creative moments that make a trip unforgettable.

“We realized the most valuable thing people have isn’t a home—it’s their time. And the most popular universal interests in the world are travel and music. That’s why this partnership made so much sense.”
Brian Chesky, CEO and co-founder of Airbnb

With 75% of Lollapalooza Berlin attendees coming from outside the city, and similarly high numbers for Lollapalooza Brasil, India and Chicago, the fan journey doesn’t just start at the gates but the moment they book their trip.

The Show Is  The Destination

It’s no longer about fans catching a show while they’re traveling; it’s the reason for the trip and excuse to explore a new city. Fans are planning their year and their travel around their next show, and festivals like Lollapalooza and The Town (Sao Paulo) are now anchors for cultural tourism.

“It’s completely natural now to build a trip around one concert. We’re seeing people fly in to Germany from all over Europe and the U.S. looking to live music as a way to experience the local culture, and a festival like Lollapalooza Berlin stands out as a true destination – one built with the fans in mind.”

Experiences That Stick With You

This generation doesn’t want more stuff—they want more memories and stories. The Airbnb Experiences at these select global Lollapalooza festivals and The Town are built to give fans those moments whether that’s a secret DJ set from German DJ BUNT. at Lollapalooza Berlin or  a backstage tour with a festival producer in India to get a look behind the curtain. These Experiences aren’t just premium upgrades but a new kind of memory-making for fans.

Locally Rooted, Globally Designed

Even with seven Lollapaloozas across four continents, each festival is designed to reflect its local culture, and Airbnb’s approach honors that, offering experiences that are both globally consistent and locally relevant.

“Lolla is Lolla everywhere—but it always captures the details of the market it’s in. This partnership lets us create something with our fans, not just for them. It’s a collaboration that’s never been done at this scale.”
Therese Liljedahl, SVP of International Partnerships, Live Nation

With input from over 10,000 fans through Live Nation’s Soundboard community, these experiences are tailored to what fans say they actually want.

Connection Is The Real Headliner

The modern world has confused connection with convenience. At its core, this partnership is a counter to the endless scroll. Airbnb’s next chapter is about designing for real-life memory-making moments – not more screen time. This is more than brand alignment. It’s a statement about what matters most.

“The average Gen Z spends four hours a day on social media. But at the end of your life, you won’t remember the device you had. You’ll remember the people, the experiences, the moments.

We’re a company that helps bring people together and want to partner with other brands like Lollapalooza to create new experiences and memories you’ve never had before.”
Brian Chesky, CEO and co-founder of Airbnb

Next up: Lollapalooza Berlin, with Airbnb Experiences launching June 5 at airbnb.com/lollaberlin2025. And that’s just the beginning. From Chicago to São Paulo, Airbnb is bringing real-world magic to Lollapalooza festivals around the globe—because real memories aren’t made in your feed, they’re made live.
